SICO is a community-based organization founded in 2020 in response to the devastating effects of COVID-19 on rural communities in Uganda. Based in Jinja district's Kagoma subcounty, we are a dedicated team of volunteers working closely with local government and private sector partners to address the critical needs of vulnerable children and youth.
What began as a pandemic response initiative has evolved into a comprehensive community development organization. We've already reached over 5,000 children with our programs, and we're ambitious about expanding our impact to 50,000 children in the next five years.
Our work is particularly focused in the Busoga region, an area facing significant challenges including high poverty rates, teenage pregnancy, and early marriages. We understand our community's unique challenges, from the impact of sugarcane farming on food security to the obstacles preventing children from accessing quality education.
To create resilient communities where every child in Uganda has access to quality education, proper nutrition, and a safe environment to thrive and reach their full potential.
To empower vulnerable children and youth in rural Uganda through education support, nutrition programs, and community-based initiatives that protect their rights and foster sustainable development.
